It is often confusing to people how they should hang a curtain rod and what hardware should be used. What hardware you use depends on what you are attaching the curtain rod to. Most of the time, the curtain rod bracket is attaching to the wall or window.
If you are attaching to concrete, brick, rock or other masonry, you will need to use masonry screws or sleeve anchors. First, you should first drill a slightly smaller pilot hole using a drill. If you are using masonry screws, place the bracket on the wall and screw the screw through the bracket hole and into the pilot hole. You are finished. If you are using sleeve anchors, push the anchor through the bracket hole and into the pilot hole. You will then need to tighten the hex head on the anchor to expand the sleeve into the hole.
If you are attaching to sheetrock, you should use drywall anchors with screws. First, screw the plastic anchor into the wall, flush with the sheetrock. Then, screw the screw through the bracket hole and into the plastic anchor, tightening until it is secure.
If you are attaching to wood or a wall stud, a 2” wood screw can be used. First, drill a slightly smaller pilot hole. Then screw the screw through the bracket hole and into the pilot hole until tightened.
There are many different ways to hang your curtain rod, but following these simple steps will make it easier and faster. These supplies can be found in your local hardware store.
